floating meditation series

Find space in your body, breath and mind on the water with us this summer

Trade your meditation cushion for a paddle board this summer and take your practice to the water with us.

Our floating meditation is an incredible opportunity to:

Create space in your body , breath and mind and find comfort and ease on your board.

Cultivate awareness and mindfulness. Let the ocean be your guide and allow everything else to fall into place.

Find your breath and settle into stillness . So much of our lives are on the go. Allow this to be a space where everything gets to slow down.

Connect with your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body on the board. Let the sounds of summer help you find ease on all levels.

We believe that anyone, regardless of their skill level, can have an incredible paddle board experience:

The ocean is your meditation space. And in this space, the water is your gentle guide; the sounds of summer the soundtrack to your practice. Learn new skills. Meet new friends. Have fun – even if you fall off your board (we’ve all done it!)

  • Once your board is locked into the anchor system, the rest of class time is devoted to yoga, breathwork, and meditation.

meet your INSTRUCTOR

HI FRIENDS! I’M CIARA DESMOND.

“See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me.” - Moana.

Hey, I’m Ciara! And from the quote up there, you can probably guess that I’m a toddler mom (IYKYK). I’m also the founder of South Shore Paddle Co. & Wicked Om Yoga. To say I LOVE learning and teaching about yoga, movement, and wellness is an understatement - I have more than 5,000 hours of teaching and more than 2,000 hours of training under my belt!

Growing up, if there was a body of water nearby, I was in it (my parents called me a little fish). So it’s no surprise that when a friend introduced me to SUP yoga in 2015, I took to it like a fish to water. It’s since become my happy place. I love that paddleboard yoga teaches you to trust that you are more than capable of doing hard things. I love the energy of the water and feeling at one with the ocean. I can’t wait to share that with you.

In addition to balancing on a paddleboard, you’ll find me balancing: two girls under four, two dogs, a husband, and a yoga school.

FAQs

  • All the gear you need to practice is included in this series - a paddle board, carbon paddle and PFD. Not only does it give you peace of mind when your heading to class but it allows us to have everything set up and ready to go for class time.

We have a custom anchor line that all of our boards will connect to for class, too. This helps us streamline the anchor process and start and end class on time. It also helps us get out on the water and we get to practice more. You get to just show up and enjoy!!

If you would really like to BYOB, we can totally chat more. Boards will need to be pre-approved for SUP yoga and a clip will need to be attached to your board to connect to our anchor line. Some boards do not have the proper clip needed so please send us a picture of your board before signing up. Also, if you do bring your own board, you will be required to arrive at least 10 minutes before class time to get your board in the water. We really want to respect everyones time and need to start and finish class at the designated time.

    Thank you for your understanding!

  • We will be constantly monitoring the weather to make sure it is safe to be out on the board!

Unless the weather is obviously bad, we will wait until the day of to make a decision on class running. We will notify you with at least two hours of notice with our decision.

A single rain date has been added to the end of each series. Please make a note of these dates and block them off in your calendar in the case they need to be used.

In the case that more than one class needs to be rescheduled, we will work directly with your series to find an additional rain date that works for your instructor. Thank you for your understanding!

  • No, no refunds are available for missed classes.

We will try our best to accommodate missed classes with at least 24 hours notice, but are not able to guarantee makeups within the series class times.

If we are unable to place you in a series class as a makeup, we will invite you into one of our regularly scheduled all-level sup yoga classes. Please email us as soon as possible if you know you will be missing a class so we can get you rescheduled for another day/time. Class sizes are limited so the sooner we know, the more options you will have!

  • Anything you’re comfortable moving in (and not afraid to get wet). Some people wear yoga pants and a t-shirt, others wear bathing suits. Water shoes are optional. In the early part of summer (mostly June), it tends to get chilly so dress in layers that you can easily take off.

South Shore Paddle Board Co. is not responsible for your belongings. We highly recommend purchasing a dry bag (and waterproof phone case) if you want to bring anything with you on the water. You can slide a dry bag underneath your board.

  • Great question! A few things. First, being in open water in the summer means that a SUP yoga class will rarely be quiet and peaceful. There will be boats and people out on the water enjoying the weather. Second, it’s very important to respect the water and the expertise of your instructor, especially when it comes to currents and tides.

  • All of our classes will be held in Marshfield this summer! Our two locations currently include Rexhame beach and Peter Igo Park. Please note, non-Marshfield residents will need to pay a $5 fee for parking at Rexhame. We will confirm location for all dates/times closer to our start date.
