here’s how class will flow…
Each class includes on-land instruction. Your instructor will go over your board, how to use your paddle, and paddle strokes.
Then it’s time to head out on the water and paddle to our class location (approx. 10-15 minutes).
Once your board is locked into the anchor system, the rest of class time is devoted to yoga, breathwork, and meditation.
You’ll end with floating savasana, and then paddle back to shore.

SUP Yoga is right for you if…
✓ You have an adventurous spirit and are willing to try something new. No experience needed!
✓You’re cool with being in open water - we’ve got waves, boats and plenty of energy.
✓ You’re not afraid of a workout. You’re going to move and it’s going to be hard (but totally fun, we promise!).
You might want to stay on land if…
✓ You have zero chill. You’re going to get wet (possibly soaked!) and potentially fall.
✓ You don’t respect the water. There are lots of elements at play when you go out on the water – the current, tide, even how to paddle correctly – and your safety is important.
✓ You’re looking for a high-intensity activity or workout. This ain’t it!

meet your INSTRUCTOR
HI FRIENDS! I’M CIARA DESMOND.
“See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me.” - Moana.
Hey, I’m Ciara! And from the quote up there, you can probably guess that I’m a toddler mom (IYKYK). I’m also the founder of South Shore Paddle Co. & Wicked Om Yoga. To say I LOVE learning and teaching about yoga, movement, and wellness is an understatement - I have more than 5,000 hours of teaching and more than 2,000 hours of training under my belt!
Growing up, if there was a body of water nearby, I was in it (my parents called me a little fish). So it’s no surprise that when a friend introduced me to SUP yoga in 2015, I took to it like a fish to water. It’s since become my happy place. I love that paddleboard yoga teaches you to trust that you are more than capable of doing hard things. I love the energy of the water and feeling at one with the ocean. I can’t wait to share that with you.
In addition to balancing on a paddleboard, you’ll find me balancing: two girls under six, two dogs, a husband, and a yoga school.
FAQs
-
Anything you’re comfortable moving in (and not afraid to get wet). Some people wear yoga pants and a t-shirt, others wear bathing suits. Water shoes are optional. In the early part of summer (mostly June), it tends to get chilly so dress in layers that you can easily take off.
South Shore Paddle Board Co. is not responsible for your belongings. We highly recommend purchasing a dry bag (and waterproof phone case) if you want to bring anything with you on the water. You can slide a dry bag underneath your board.

Great question! A few things. First, being in open water in the summer means that a SUP yoga class will rarely be quiet and peaceful. There will be boats and people out on the water enjoying the weather. Second, it’s very important to respect the water and the expertise of your instructor, especially when it comes to currents and tides.
-
We love that you’re up for an adventure! We would recommend starting with a 1:1 private SUP yoga class to get you comfortable with being on your paddleboard and out on the water. From there, you can continue with 1:1 classes, or you can go into our Beginner’s Series for four weeks where you’ll build up to standing on your board.

Our summer series is an intentionally curated series of SUP yoga classes for beginners and all-level students. The classes all build on top of one another so participants can learn and grow out on the water every class. Classes are on specific days/times when you register for a specific group and a great way to commit to being out on the water this summer!
Our all-levels group sup yoga classes (non-series classes) are still a great option for those excited to get out on the water but are on random days/times (due to the tides!) and will include our signature all-levels sup yoga sequence. You will receive on-land instruction and get an opportunity to build your paddle boarding + yoga skills.
Both are great options so choose the summer series if the dates work better for you!
-
All of our classes will be held in Marshfield this summer! Our two locations currently include Rexhame beach and Peter Igo Park. Please note, non-Marshfield residents will need to pay a $5 fee for parking at Rexhame. We will confirm location for all dates/times closer to our start date.
-
You are going to LOVE paddleboard yoga! People that normally do high-intensity workouts are usually the ones that benefit the most. Being on the water is challenging in and of itself, and then there’s the added bonus of turning inward and finding calm among Mother Nature.
-
All the gear you need to practice is included in this series - a paddle board, carbon paddle and PFD. Not only does it give you peace of mind when your heading to class but it allows us to have everything set up and ready to go for class time.
We have a custom anchor line that all of our boards will connect to for class, too. This helps us streamline the anchor process and start and end class on time. It also helps us get out on the water and we get to practice more. You get to just show up and enjoy!!
If you would really like to BYOB, we can totally chat more. Boards will need to be pre-approved for SUP yoga and a clip will need to be attached to your board to connect to our anchor line. Some boards do not have the proper clip needed so please send us a picture of your board before signing up. Also, if you do bring your own board, you will be required to arrive at least 10 minutes before class time to get your board in the water. We really want to respect everyones time and need to start and finish class at the designated time.
Thank you for your understanding!
-
We will be constantly monitoring the weather to make sure it is safe to be out on the board!
Unless the weather is obviously bad, we will wait until the day of to make a decision on class running. We will notify you with at least two hours of notice with our decision.
A single rain date has been added to the end of each series. Please make a note of these dates and block them off in your calendar in the case they need to be used.
In the case that more than one class needs to be rescheduled, we will work directly with your series to find an additional rain date that works for your instructor. Thank you for your understanding!
-
No, no refunds are available for missed classes.
We will try our best to accommodate missed classes with at least 24 hours notice, but are not able to guarantee makeups within the series class times.
If we are unable to place you in a series class as a makeup, we will invite you into one of our regularly scheduled all-level sup yoga classes. Please email us as soon as possible if you know you will be missing a class so we can get you rescheduled for another day/time. Class sizes are limited so the sooner we know, the more options you will have!
